Hi. I'm new at cake decorating, and have seen some beautiful cakes with the "diamond indents" all around a cake- makes it look more formal. I don't know if i'm describing this well and I don't have a name for it...can anyone tell me how to get this look for my cake? Thanks a lot!

Can you find and show us a picture that you've seen this on?

I've never done it before but from what I've read, you can do it either on buttercream or fondant. Some people do it by hand (actually sort of draw the indents on...I'd never get it straight) and others use impression mats. Some mats are specifically for cake decorating (you can order online - try searching online for "cake impression mat") and some people use impression mats that are really meant for clay crafting projects.

sugarcraft.com also has these mats...they also have what look like metal cookie cutters in sets of 3. Try locall cake stores...what state are you in?
