Here is the answer I got from my instructor, she was a florist for 20 years before decorating cakes. Hope this helps


"The reason you don't use florist foil to cover cake boards is that the process used to do the foil may not be food safe, therefore, you cannot
guarantee that it is o.k. to put food on. I know that sometimes the colors are much more condusive to the cake you're making, but I would
not advise using it."

Okay, silly me, what is clear cellophane? Is it sticky? How thick? Are you talking about that thin stuff you can shrink wrap around a basket? Thanks! Cheryl

Melysa it's the shiney waterproof stuff that sometimes comes wrapped around a potted plant
