Ok, I did this at cost for a friend, for her Grand daughters Birthday... Im just curious, if I was to charge regularly for it, what would you estimate?

I didnt have my regular round Wilton pans, so had to use the round cake pans you get at the grocery store... so the cake is two 9 inch X 1.5 inch rounds... so in all 9 x 3 inches + Filling. Milk Chocolate cake with Chocolate bavarian cream filling. Frosted in Butter cream, with MMF decorations... Bow is MMF & Gumpaste.

I live in a large metro city area if that makes a difference. Plus Im a beginner, so my cakes are far from perfect.

Since I don't do fondant, I can't really be helpful in pricing, but just wanted to say that your cakes are NOT "far from perfect"! This is a great cake! I love your daisies.....very uniform, good pointy petals. Don't under-rate yourself! you are very good at this!

I charge $50.00 for a 10" present cake with fillings and fondant accents. I consider that a specialty design.

You should figure a nine inch round yields approx. 22 servings.
Then just multiply 22 servings by the amount you charge per serving.
$35 is only $1.59 per serving. You have to ask yourself, "Is that all I want to make per serving???"

i'd say 40 ish since it's fondant. check out your local bakeries (not groceries) and just ask what their rate is for a 9 inch fondant cake. obviously yours has more decor, but it will give you a rough estimate of what the market is in your area.

Thanks... I feel like I shouldn't charge similar to cake shops in the area cause they are professional and I am not.... I don't really plan on selling cakes, maybe just to friends and whatever... but I just wanted an idea. It was my first time making fondant daisies, just used a cutter, they were fun and easy. Im a big fan of daisies.

Wow $15 for the bow?

I looked at a local cake decorators website... for a basic buttercream cake she charges $25.95 + $5 filling for a 10 inch... So thats $30 for a basic basic buttercream cake....

So that gives me a base... but then the fondant gumpaste etc on top? I dunno...

But thanks so much for all the ideas!

I love CC
