Will This Give Fondant The Texture Look I Want?

I want to make a kitchen towel out of fondant. I was assuming the best way would be to mix the small chunks of fondant with the different colors and lay them out in the pattern I want and use a rolling pin to "mesh" them together. So, if that works, then can I take an actual kitchen towel, place it on the fondant towel and use my rolling pin to "press" the texture onto the fondant?

If I've totally missed the boat and there is a more correct way to create a towel, please tell me!!!

Thanks,
Kathi

I made a beach towel with that process.

I rolled out my white fondant and cut the strips from a color. Be sure and moisten the back of the strips before you lay them on the fondant and roll them .

I used one of those "non slide" mats you get for your cabinet to texture it.
It really looked more like a dishtowel texture than a beach towel.

Then just drape it quickly over your cake. icon_biggrin.gif

you can use a paper towel, or just about any other thing in your house to make a pattern on the fondant, but don't use anything like a towell, becuase all those little fuzzies will stick to your fondant! You can mix the colors together, or roll out a rectangle really thin, then lay your colors over it glueing them on. This way gives you more substance so it won't fall apart very easily.

good luck!
