Is There An Easier Alternative To The Baking Strips???

They drive me nuts! 
Especially on big cakes. I just put a 12 by 18 sheet in the oven and the darn strips kept falling off so I just left them off. Was that a mistake? I used the flower nail for a heating core, so hopefully it will turn out. 
I agree they are a pain in the rear!!! Have you tried using office supply binder clips to clip them on? I got that little trick from here.
