Trying to make this cake right now and in the recipe is calls for 1 cup melted butter. Is that 1 cup of butter and then melt it or 1 cup liquid butter??? I should have read the instructions through before now, but I'm making my first wedding cake for $ today and my nerves are a little frazzled. PLUS, it's my daughters 10th birthday and I have to make another cake this afternoon for her. Ok ok ok 1 cake at a time ( deep breaths) Anyone have the answer? Thanks in advance.

I've made this without any problems and did 1 cup butter, then I melted it. Now I'm wondering if I did it right?

Anyone else?

Should be 2 sticks of butter then melt. Always go by the measurements on the side of the butter sticks. Goo luck with your cake. I say a pray that everything goes smoothly. Take Care! icon_biggrin.gif

I use this recipe quite often and I always used 1 cup butter (2 sticks) and then melt.

Best of luck with your cakes.

OK this also says that 1 batch of batter will make 2 - 9" layer cakes. How much batter would I need to make 2 - 9 x 13" cakes? I filled a 9 x 13 with the batter and it's a little better than half full. Would I need 1 1/2 for each cake then and I'll try cooking it for the 65 mins and then just keep checking it to see when it's done I guess.

I use 1 and a 1/2 cake mixes for a 9x13 pan if I want the cake to be 2 inches tall. But if you are going to layer you could probably do one mix (one of the recipe you are using) for each pan. Hope this helps! icon_biggrin.gif
