My husband and I are about to move into our first house, and I want to make a house cake too. I was thinking about getting the stand up house pan...

I am looking forward to getting more ideas!

My first thought was the stand up house pan by Wilton. The only other idea I would have is to stack several square layers...and then maybe sculpt the roof using pound cake. You could use fondant to make the windows and door. But I am sure the stand up house would be easier than that! Hope it helps anyway! icon_smile.gif

Ive done one before, that was a slab cake, with a smaller house sculpture on the top. (all chocolate cake) it was made for a family whose house actually burnt down. We had a get together before the house was bulldozed completely. So- in effect the house on the cakie was half burnt (black powder colouring everywhere!!! before I was done) Ill get around to posting photos one day.
You could do one with a rectangle cake, plus bake another in a sponge/lamington pan (flatter). cut this in half, and then form the roof in a triangle by leaning the two pieces up to a peak on top of the 1st cake. Secure it with toothpicks, and icing until it dries. It looks super cute decorated with lollies... such as smarties for roof tiles, licorice for window panes etc.
have fun with it!!! its a great idea.
