I have a client who specifically asked for an ivory/cream icing-for 2nd wedding-I made the icing last night along with a separate batch of regular white icing. When comparing the 2, the ivory icing looked very yellowy? I used butter crisco instead of regular for the ivory tint, plus I added melted white chocolate-however now I am afraid it may be too yellow/ivory for wedding cake-should I mix it with the regular white icing and see what I come up with or leave it alone?! How do you make your icing ivory? Please help-I'm starting to stress!!! icon_cry.gif

I would make white buttercream and then use ivory color to get the color you want. I think you would have more control to get the shade you want. Maybe the butter crisco is the culprit for making it too yellow.

I once made ivory by using regular butter and regular vanilla (not clear imitation). It ended up slightly off white compared to bright white but by itself, you couldn't really tell it was ivory. That's why I suggest using the ivory coloring. Good luck!

I've tried several combinations to achieve ivory, all without success. I, also, recommend you buy ivory gel. It'll save you lots of grief in the long run.
