Hi all,

I need some help getting gray color BC frosting. When I tried to get gray by using black, it came out a lavendar-purplish color. I think I saw this posted somewhere, but can't find it now.

Also, the bavarian cream from sugarcraft or CK, does it have to be refrigerated after being added to cake.

Thanks,
Susan

If you think about a color wheel. If you want grey and have lt purple, you should be able to add some yellow to get back to neutral.

I can't guarantee this will work on icing but I did acheive it for painting with the food colors.

I took black gel and wiltons white (makes icing very white) and it came out a perfect gray. This may work if you mix these before adding it to the icing. You can try a little so you don't mess up a whole batch if it doesn't work.

I made grey ising over the weekend, mixing black with a little brown in it-- came out just fine for me. See the computer cake in my pictures, the wires were a dark grey.

Yup I ued Wilton colors... Im slowly switching to Americolor--- but gotta use what I have first hehe....

I did Black till it was the darkness I wanted (Nothing turned purple at all, so not sure why yours did), but then added a little brown to it too....

Maybe you can try the suggestions using a little BC for a test and see which gets the color you want.

I found that my Americolor with basic white frosting made a nice grey, but when my classmate asked to use it to help with her "puple black" it did not help. Not sure why but the Wilton sometimes comes out more purple then black.
