As you all can probably tell, I'm new at this
How can I avoid the cake board getting all slopped up with icing when I'm decorating. I'm kind of a messy icer and I usually end up getting icing everywhere! If i decorate the cake on the cake board, then the board gets all slopped up and doesn't look nice and professional. But is it possible to decorate the cake on something else, then transfer it to the cake board or whatever it is being served on?
I'm new so ignore this if you want.
I first put the cake on the plate or board I am going to serve it on.
Then I make a "collar" of strips of paper all around the cake.
I then ice the cake and remove the strips of paper leaving a clean area all around the cake.
There's probably better ways, but I have found this works for me (I'm messy too!
)
I don't spread my icing all the way down to the board. Get close, but not all the way, then cover it with your border!
