just finished this labor of love... for my daughter. but i am starting to sell my cakes so i was wondering what you all would be willing to pay for a cake decorated this way.

3 tier stacked sizes are 10" 7" and 6" carved to taper at the bottom, fondant stripes were individually cut and applied then some were hand painted with luster dust. middle tier has hand painted love hearts on it, rope and ball borders painted plus all the heart cutouts on and sticking out of the cake. it also has fillings in each tier.

this took 2 1/2 days just to decorate. most of the wire explosions and the name were made a few weeks back as well as the cakes.

i would not want to make this again unless someone was willing to pay big $$$ for it, so is it worth expecting that...

thanks guys..

Hi, beautiful cake!!! Did you calculate how many servings?? I would say, at least $3 per serving, at least! OR, recently someone here at CC told me to multiply your cost by 4. If, for example it cost you $50 (including everything, even the paper towels you used), than multiply that by 4 and that is the minimun you should charge. So, the 2 1/2 days was for decorations alone? Not including the time it took you to make the buttercream and fondant? Or bake the cake? Again, awesome work and you have to take every little single thing under consideration. HTH!

As a party cake the chart I have shows 60 servings. I would do $180-$240 depending on the cake and fillings.

That cake is absolutely awesome! Great job!

I wouldn't charge any less than $250-300 for that cake simpley because of all the embellishments on it (the wiring work). I know in bakeries in my area, something like that would go for 400-500 bucks plus tax.
