I am thinking about making the Spiderman bust for a cake that I have this weekend. Do you think I can use Rice Krispie treats for the head instead of the dummy? or will it be too heavy? I don't know where to get one of those dummy heads at. Any suggestions?

I haven't tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You can always stick some dowels in them to go into the cake to add more support when it is in place.

I used Rice Krispie's pressed into the sports ball pan to create the head for my scarecrow cake. Put a dowel down the middle to make sure his head didn't fall off.

Good luck!

I use them if it is a large thing that needs to be sculpted. Works like a charm!

me2, your cake is adorable! That's a great idea about the ball pan. What size cakes did you use for the shoulders and body?

Thanks for all the responses, I think I will try it. How long after I make it can i use it?

I would like to use rice krispies treats, but I love them so much that I'd just eat them all before I could ever make anything cake-related with them!!!! icon_redface.gificon_lol.gif

I am in the process of building a stand up Barney, I will use the Rice Krispies for the head and one stand up arm. The cereal is pretty versatile. Of course you still have to go with supports.

I used Wilton's smallest oval pan for the body, then cut an 8" round into quarters and used 2 on each side for the arms. You can't see the neck, but I used a small bowl to bake a 1/2 ball and used that for the neck.

Glad you liked him
