okay, I've looked in the gallery and love all the seashell cakes. I know that I would buy a shell mold and use choc. my question is what color choc? white? and do I tint it with brown maybe? I love the look of the luster dust too.
thank you all!!

I made mine with white candy melts and colored with pearl and old gold luster dust. I also tinted some white candy melts peach.

Another idea that I got from here that worked GREAT was to dip grape stems in the candy melts and use as coral.

I have poured a small amount of milk chocolate in the mold and then added the white chocolate and swirled the two together, it makes a realistic looking shell

I made white chocolate shells and tried to paint them with the dust colors but wasn't successful (although I know many people can make them look great!). So, for my beach cake, I made pastel shells by melting a few colored candy melts with a bunch of white candy melts. I also made some swirly ones the same way. That technique was easier for me.

I put a small amount of melted white chocolate (for each color) on a paper plate and added food color and swirled with a toothpick and then either using the toothpick or a paintbrush I painted on my accents, looking under the mold to see the effect and then filled it with white chocolate. After they dried and I popped them out I brushed them with luster dust (dry). Here is how they came out:
