Need Help With Coach Bag, Please!
Decorating By Copacabanya Updated 20 Aug 2007 , 5:19pm by Copacabanya
I am getting ready to make a Coach bag cake for my niece and I am trying to replicate her exact bag. I am attaching a picture of her bag. My question is, how would I go about covering the cake in fondant to leave the top with that open fabric edge rather than smooth on top? I hope I am making sense. Maybe the picture will explain what I mean.
I would VERY much appreciate any help I can get!

Could you cover each side individually, start from the bottom and leave the edges on?
Well - I just did my first coach bag this weekend and it was actually the smaller size of this same bag. I just simply 'wrapped' the fondant around the cake and brought up the 'raw edges' and luckily they came up even with one another. I did do the stitching line about an inch from the top on the fondant so that helped make the definition.
I haven't had time yet to download and resize my pictures - and believe me I am not even considered a rookie with the fondant yet totally a newbie= but hey - I've got to start somewhere!!
meancat - square or not, the detail is great! How did you put the C's on?
suzycakes - I really want to see your pics! Did you leave the cake square or did you carve it at the top? I'm thinking I might need to carve just to get the fondant at the top to look right.
Thanks for all your responses!
Anyone else attempt this one before or have any ideas for me?
