would you charge for cakes like these? I'm assuming more than normal because of the chocolate and detail work? I have a wedding order coming up, and they haven't decided for sure what they want, but this is one of the pictures they gave me.

I have no idea (never having done a wedding cake)...but ganache is kind of pricey to make....so I would make sure to take that into account....

I would charge a base price of $3.50 per serving. Thats my standard wedding cake price. I probably wouldn't charge extra for the chocolate.

There will be 2 layers of chocolate and 2 layers of white, the chocolate filled with ganache and the white filled with white chocolate ganache. I do agree that starts to get pricey. On top of having the layers covered in ganache.

Since there is quite a bit of ganache being used I would have to re quote what I would charge. I diidn't realize the cakes would be filled and completely covered on top with gancahe. In that case I would add $.50 per serving and charge $4.00 per serving.

We've copied the Wilton's groom cake, the one with the strawberries and ganache, and used the (sorry to say, some may say yuck) off the shelf fudge frosting, microwaved it a bit and drizzled it on. It worked out great. Might be cheaper and simpler to take that route. If you google "groom cakes", you will find this picture in one of the sites. I have it saved as a favorite and will attempt a similar in the future. I love the design of the cake. Don't sell my cakes, I can only offer tips. Have fun with the cake.
