I would not think good ol buttercream would be good with the cherry chip cake I made with the recipe I have found on here. SO I was wondering what is the best frosting to use? Cream cheese, chocolate.... ? It has to be non refridgerated because it is going to be sitting out for cake walk....Any tips?

Did you make it as a bundt cake as the recipe says? (It sounded so good, I looked it up and added it to my recipes to try in the future). If so, what about a simple glaze drizzled on? You could even top it with some mini-chocolate chips.

i actually made the cherry chip cake for my strawberry shortcake themed cake in my photos. i used buttercream with vanilla flavoring and it was quite good... i guess it depends on how you're looking to decorate it.

I think that a chocolate glaze (if bundt cake) or some type of chocolate frosting would be heavenly!!!

No I don't have a bundt cake pan so I just made a smaller round cake. So I thought I needed to cover it up with some type of frosting. Could I make this small cake pretty with a glaze? If so what type of glaze that does not need to be in the fridge...? Sorry so many questions?!

You could make a simple glaze of 1 c powdered sugar, 2 T milk and 1/2 t vanilla. Even though there is milk in it, I don't think it would need to be refrigerated since the sugar content is so high.

I used a recipe from here--wedding cake frosting with crisco and dream whip. I also doctored the cherry chip cake mix with cheesecake pudding--yum! Everyone loved the two together. If you would like the recipe I can look again. Chocolate would be good too.

could you find some cherry preserves, jelly or something and melt it down like you do apricot glaze, just don't strain it and pour it over the top?
