I take out half a cup of flour and replace it with cocoa powder. I also use chocolate creamer or milk for the water.

I made one last weekend and used the extender as is with a devils food (DH brand) and just added vanilla. I didn't have any cocoa powder and I think it was the best one I have ever made!! It tasted like it was from scratch!! I froze the cakes and OMG it was so moist!!

id recommend the added cocoa. i made a chocolate wasc cake for work and it did not taste very chocolatey after all the added stuff, and the color was very light

I add a box of chocolate or devils food pudding mix and use strong coffee instead of water. You might need to add a little more coffee than the recipe calls for.

I use a chocolate cake mix preferably DH Dark Chocolate Fudge or BC Triple Chocolate and I always add a small box of chocolate pudding to my batter.

I use the extender recipe like it is and add 1/3 cup cocoa and vanilla instead of almond. It works great

I use the extender just as is with DH Triple chocolate and it comes out so good. It is my most requested cake, even my nephew who hates chocolate cake, loves this one. He eats all the cake scrapes w/o icing or anything. The color diffrence is not that much.

I have added around 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of cocoa powder to the ingredients of the extender recipe. I'll also throw in a couple of spoons of instant coffee.

Yummy!

I have asked before where I can find the recipe for the extender and was told I could find it in the recipe section on this site. Well maybe I am blind or something, but I haven't found it. Does anyone know the link page? Thanks.

Here is one I found. I just typed in extender in the recipe section under search. I know there is one more.

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Recipes&sort=recipename&sort_dir=ASC&op=search&chname=X&chingredients=X&searchtext=extender+&cat_id=-1&x=0&y=0

Hope that link works.
