Hi. I have two 3D pans I have gotten through ebay. One is the lamb, the other is the rabbit. I believe I've read that these come out better with a pound cake recipe. I can grasp that but what I can't grasp is, do these pans have a third part that hold them together and upright while they cook or do I cook each pan laying down like any other pan and then somehow "glue" them together. The lamb pan has a small hole in it that I'd assume is a steam vent since it's big enough for batter to go through if I did lay it down like a normal pan. I only have two pieces for each of these 3D cake pans so I didn't know if there are clamps I should buy to shut it while cooking, or if I should use a heat core and where whould I place it. Lots of questions in general. I have had these pans for more than a year and it's time I use them or get rid of them......I'd rather use them.
Also, if anyone has these pan instructions I'd love a copy, or I can research that further after I've found out if I have enough pieces.
Thanks,
Brenda
One side has a hole to let steam out. You need to grease and flour both sides, place the side without the hole on a cookie sheet and fill as full as you can. Put the other half on it and tie it up with kitchen twine so it doesn't open while baking. The cookie sheet will catch any spill over since you want it over full as opposed to under so it fills all the way.
Clamps won't fit on them as far as I know.
I have several 3d pans and just use a regular chocolate or yellow cake mix in them with no problem, I just follow the instructions on the box.
Here are the directions for the the lamb cake from the Wilton site:

The bunny is similar. It is there, too, but unless I am missing something the baking directions are wrong. Pulled my directions out and they are basically the same as for the lamb. Says it needs 4-1/2 cups of batter, fill deeper half of pan (w/o hole), snap together, etc.
Hope this helps.
