I think hot glue would work, but you would have to use it very carefully. If it wasn't for around food, I'd suggest a staple gun. But you wouldn't want any staples to accidentally come off and go astray!

I used hot glue for feathers and it turned out great. I ran a bead of hot glue all around and then quickly added the feathers. Just pull the hot "string" of glue out towards you when finished so it isn't left on the board to be an extra goodie on someone's fork!!!
