Hello everybody,

While visiting my local speciality food store I saw few things that looked interesting but I didn't know if I could use it in cakes/fillings etc in anyway. So, I'm calling all experts of cc to advice me.
1. There was pre made Lemon and vanilla filling for tarts which they said is used for tarts and cakes. Can this be used as a filling in any way?

2. Different fruit preserves ( Cherry, rasberry, apricot, peach) can they be used in anyways? I know they can be as a filling but what are the other uses?

3. Sugar free flavoured syrup like Butterscotch, caramel, Irish cream, Chocolate, vanilla etc. It was written that they can be used in making desserts, drinks etc.

Please advice if I could use any of the above.

Thanks in advance.

the sf flavored syrups are wonderful! You can use them to brush over a cake to add flavor and moistness to it after it's baked, or you can use them in lieu of other flavorings (like vanilla) for a stronger flavor. You can also use them in frostings.

I've tried a couple of those fillings- I don't know if they're the same ones you're talking about but they were powdered and I think they came from either England or Germany- honestly, they were not very good. The lemon one was particularly horrible, but I think a lot of that "fake" lemon is nasty. Maybe these are different. Also- if you haven't tried Lemon Curd (which you can usually get at higher-end groceries) you don't know what you're missing! Soooo wonderful!

Thanks for the suggestions. The lemon/vanilla fillings are not powdered but liquid...like a sauce consistency and comes in a jar. Maybe I'll get one and try icon_smile.gif

Thanks again,
