I had to make a cake this weekend and i had had to use what they call luster dust but i couldnt find any so i used what they call shimmer dust and i was wondering if they are the same thing? ive never used either befor and i would like to get instructions on each if anyone had them.. thanks

Nope! Luster dust is very fine poweder. Did you use Wiltons Shimmer dust?

the best description of luster dust I can give is loose eyeshadow. That is basically what it looks like, and the same texture etc.... it's soft when used dry, but gets bolder when liquid is added voila. Make up it's something we all know anyway

Okay . . . I know luster dust and I am assuming that pearl dust is just a softer, more translucent form of luster dust. But what about petal dust and shimmer dust and any other kind of dust out there?

Luster super shine metallic usually
Pixie and disco Glitter coarse in texture
Pearl dust are pearl colored-Super pearl-Red pear-Gold pearl-all with a pearlized base
Petal Dust is matte powder for dusting gumpaste floers and such
Shimmer I believe is the brand that Wilton carries-for sprinkling

Thanks! I wish the little bottles that they came in had a description of how best to use them. Come to think of it, most cake products seem to assume that the consumer already knows!
