Ok I will be adding a wedding cake to my portfolio it will be my own design and it is my final cake in my cake class but I'm having a hard time deciding the colors. I love the all white and pearl accents idea, but since I have to use gumpaste roses I think they show off their beauty best in a colot instead of white so I am debating between and all white wedding cake with pearl accents and pear painted roses or a colored cake with pearl accents and roses the same or a white cake with colored roses. I cannot decide what color roses, what do you all think would stand out more and look more dramatic on a wedding cake I have searched all over the galleries and found no inspiration

I think you should stick with white cake, with pearl, and colored roses. If all white was what you had in mind in the first place I think you'll like it better then if you try color and it isn't the look you want. Maybe you could just luster dust the flowers pearl and leave cake white, so flowers stand out but are still all white. Or maybe try ivory or champagne colored roses. Or I would stick with the red rose suggestion because they always look elegant on any cake, who doesn't like red roses? We'll there's my two cents worth. Have fun!
I would go with white cake, love the pearl accents.. and roses in any color or white.... I think white on white is so elegant. If you want the roses to photograph better though they would better show in a color, I love pastels yellows and peaches and pinks- its really anything you wish

Another vote for white icing, pearls and ivory or pale pastel roses in pink or peach.

Edited to add: I think also since it's for a portfolio it would be easier for a prospective bride to look at a white cake and picture it in a color than to look at a cake with a colored icing and picture it white, particularly if she doesn't happen to like the color you choose. JMHO.
