I read an old forum about a recipe for luster piping and it called for 2 t of 10x sugar. What is that?

The 10x means it was pre-sifted ten times before the bagged it up. I'm pretty sure at least.

it refers to the "grind".

There is an industry standard of 6x which is coarser than 10x but still usable and cheaper than 10x.

there is even a 12x out there too!

how do you know how many times it is sifted or coarse cuz the pwd sugar at the grocery store I buy just says pwd sugar?

6x and 12x is INDUSTRY ..


10x is what you get in the grocery stores and supermarkets...hth
