I think I am getting ready to be in cake burnout. I have 5 cakes to get done by Friday. I'm exhausted from a weekend of cheerleading competitions having to hold a 8 month old for 7 hours straight. I love cakes, but I think I need a week of NOTHING!! I will try to schedule this. Just getting this off my chest. Somebody give me some encouragement to get through the week. I guess life with 4 children is catching up.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Wow, I bet you were exhausted after holding a baby that long.... After this week - take a vacation- if possible -- from baking cakes or even take some "mommy" time for a couple of hours. BTW i hope all your cakes turn out.

I feel your pain...I had 5 cakes last week (and I have a very demanding toddler who at one time was a very demanding infant...)

You can do it. It will be over soon. Don't take any more orders for the next couple of weeks and take some time off. You'll feel better about cakes when you don't have so many staring you in the face.

Some time for yourself is in order. A message? A day spa? A couple of hours with your husband (alone) for dinner out with, perhaps, a movie? Get your hair done, nails, facial? Something that is pleasurable, relaxing and NOT cake related. Do you like to read? Go to the library and hide out for a couple of hours, Grandma caring for the babies. Take care of yourself.

You sound like me! Except that I'm just getting into cake decorating. I've been doing it here and there for my kids for years and just recently ventured out into outside of the family. Anyway, I have 5 - the youngest is 7 months old and I don't think I ever gave myself enough time to be new mom! We're slowing down life tremendously around here and I'm quickly learning the word NO! And I don't feel guilty at all! When baby's older, I'll get my same old pace again I'm sure! Don't feel guilty at all for scheduling yourself a week of NOTHING!!!!!

Leave the kids with hubby for a while and if you can't afford a spa, find a barnes & noble with a cafe, buy a nice cup of something get a stack of magazines and zone out for a couple of hours. It's amazing what only a couple of hours away from the chaos will do!

I totally understand! I thought I was the only crazy mother of 4 (yes one demanding 9 month old) that was nuts enough to take on 5 cakes in a weekend. Good luck to you, I am pulling for you. I will be thinking of you while I am making my cakes. At least we are not alone this weekend!
