When you torte cakes big or small, how do you pull the layers apart, especially if your torting a large cake, like 13x9??

Thanks

I did a 13" x 9" just last month and what I did was slide a piece of cardboard (the plain ones they sell for cakes and same size as your cake) between the top two layers and transfer the one on top onto the cardboard. Repeat for the next layers. After you put the filling on top of the bottom layer, you take one of the layers with the cardboard and very carefully slide it on top of the bottom one, make sure the edges are aligned, apply more filling and place the other layer on top. It worked just fine for me and none of the layers broke.
