Maybe you can see what the groom likes, and make the bride a little something special on the side or for the top tier...a pie, or whatever she'll eat.

I would do a French Vanilla Cake. The filling would be bavarian cream. For the bride, why not make an ice cream cake as a surprise. Just bring it out when she does the tasting for the pictures. Of course find out first if she likes ice cream and what her favorit flavor would be. Just a thought.

A small elegant cake for bride and groom to cut and feed. Sheet cakes for the guests. You could do a variety of flavors with the sheet cakes.

I don't understand why everyone uses white cake yellow has a much better taste and chocolate is the best from what most people I talk to think. I would also find out what dessert the bride likes. If it is pudding or something like that you could get a really pretty glass and put some flowers around it and set it on the top tier cake.

does the bride like cheesecake, my cousin HATES cake and is getting married next SEPT and thought she just had to have cake because of tradition. She's more than likely going to have a cake for cutting and doing the traditionall pics and just everyone having cheesecake instead or some other desserts that will be on a table. If they really want the cake they can have the one they cut for the pictures. If the mother of the bride is still demanding cake and the bride is ok with it, make sure it's good and pretty because of the potential clients there. I would do a white or yellow cake, chocolate and then a different flavor like strawberry or lemon. My brother got married last month and had white, choc. and strawberry cake. The cake that was left the most of was chocolate believe it or not. The strawberry and white were almost completely gone.

1. find out about the groom, what he likes.
2. keep it simple, everybody loves to see a clean elegant cake wether you like to eat it or not.
3. do what you do best, and i think everybody (including yourself) will love it!!!
Good luck!!!

I'd ask the bride what kind of desserts she DOES like - perhaps cheesecake would be a good alternative. Or I agree that maybe half white and half chocolate would be good - please everyone. Or yellow and chocolate - but if you do a little of both you should be able to please everyone that way. Simple white buttercream - vanilla - is what people usually expect anyway so I think that would be fine. Good luck! The grooms' opinion could be important too - just make sure they sign a contract!!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Groom doesn't care at all! Finally I asked the flower girl and she picked white for the top, carrot for the middle and my neopolitian for the bottom (my best/favorite!)

Thanks all!

Oh, I love that the flowergirl picked! icon_lol.gif When in doubt, ask a kid, they're usually not shy with their input!! Great flavor choices, btw! Good luck with your cake!

Just a little input from personal experience. Sometimes the MOB gets very little to say about anything concerning the wedding that she is expected to pay for. If mom wants cake, I don't think that is so terrible. Not trying to start an argument, but just something to think about.

you might want to post that recipe for the neopolitan cake or tell where to find it (if it's one your willing to share of course) or you'll be bombarded with requests..myself included. icon_razz.gif
