I want to make some candy "glass" something like the same thing you would make suckers out of. Does anyone know the ratio to sugar and water and is that the only thing that goes in it?

Here is a recipe I use for candy jewels. It was on the back of a candy flavoring package.

2 c granulated sugar
2/3 c light corn syrup
3/4 c water
1 t candy flavoring
1/4 t candy food coloring

Stir sugar, syrup and water over medium heat until sugar disolves. Bring to boil without stirring. When syrup reaches 260 degrees add color. Do not stir. Remove from heat at 300 degrees. After boiling stops add flavoring and stir. Pour onto greased cookie sheet or into lightly oiled molds.

Cupcake55 Thanks. Are the candy jewels clear?
Bransmom .I have a recipe for the rock candy but they are more like crystals all joined. What I was wanting something like jewelery stones to place around and on the cakes.
KHalstead I have copied that recipe and it looks like what I want. Now I need to get the jewel moulds. The ones I have seen are 2" a bit big. Anyone know where I can get smaller ones.
Thanks

Yes, the jewels are clear. You make them whatever color and flavor you want. I purchased moulds from Hobby Lobby that were small. I think it is probably what you are looking for. There were two different shapes so I got one of each.

Briarview, I made candy jewels to put on a cake and the mold was purchased from hobby lobby. They were bigger than I wanted but I think it came out o.k. Here is a pic.

Thanks kincaellan. Love your site. Your work is beautiful and you are very talented. Well out of my league.
Unfortunately I live in NZ and I can not justify the cost of getting them to here as the shipping kills it. I really want to try and obtain the jewelery moulds but can only find 2" ones and larger and require ½" - 1". Would you think me rude if I ask where I can obtain these size moulds? You may pm me if you wish. Just a matter of interest how much would it cost in shipping for you to send me 100pcs of the sugar jewels to New Zealand.

Ouch the shipping is almost twice the cost of the small 100 pcs of the jewels. As far as the molds I make my own. By the way, I used to live in Remuera and work at the Devonport stone oven on the north shore. I worked there for about a year as part of my skill development.
I'm still thinking of emigrating back.
