I've been asked about a price for a sheet cake that will feed around 100 people. First of all, do they even make a pan that big? The biggest I have is 12x18x2. I don't have all of the details but if it is just a simple cake what would be the bottom price I should ask? I have no idea where to start. ![]()
I just did a full sheet for someone and charged her $115. It has a 3D golfball on it though. I figure if it's really simple, $100 isn't out of line. You are getting cake for 100 people for $1/serving, so it's really quite cheap. The more embellishments they want, the more they pay.
I baked 2 of the 12x18 cakes and placed them side by side on a cake board, and iced as one.
Okay, thanks. I guess that's what I will have to do!
Wilton has a cake pan that is a 14 x 22 that gives you 98 servings. You can also bake 2 11 x 15 cakes and put them side by side, which I have done and it works perfect. That gives you around 120 servings. Pricing... well, I cannot answer that. Good luck!
I consider a 12 x 18 to be 54 wedding servings...and meager ones at that. I wouldn't do less than two of these. If it's a centerpiece cake....butt them. If it's going to be cut and served from the kitchen.....why bother???!!! $100 for average decor is in line in my area.
13x 18 is 40 banquet-sized pieces, just slightly larger than wedding sizes. Two of them would be 80 servings.
Half sheets are $60 each, for labor and ingredients. (Cake with 1 layer of mousse or buttercream icing.)
So they could decide if they want 80 servings or 120 servings. If they go with the latter, you can put two of the cakes together for a sheet cake, and the other could be a kitchen extra.
