Quick! Last Minute Opinions...

I'm making a rather large Sonic the Hedgehog cut-out cake... it takes up most of a half sheet board.

I have it crumb coated and am waiting for some new Crisco before I ice it...

Will it look more professional done in stars? Or iced smooth?

I thought the stars would look "cleaner" but that the iced smooth would be more "different" or "cool" but might not look as clean.

What would you do? I'm leaning towards stars now but....

I'll be doing it in about 30 minutes.... haha....

With the time restriction I'd say ice smooth. If you had more time I'd say the stars would look really nice but I know I couldn't do all those stars in that amount of time.

Maybe you could do a combination, some stars and some smoot, get a little more texture that way.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean I only had 30 min to do it...haha...I just meant I'll be starting it in about 30 min. She won't be picking it up until 5pm.

I always equate the stars with a beginner..........I know that's definitely NOT the case ( I've had people request cakes covered in stars).......but I usually lean more towards the smoothly iced cakes personally.

The "smooths" have it... its really hard to get all the different colors even and smooth, the photo hides alot of my imperfections and also the chocolate crumbs in the white parts... *sigh*....but hopefully customer will like it. Its a pretty big cake, half sheet size.

wow you did a really great job on this cake it must have been really hard to smooth out all those differnet sections of color what did you use?

Thanks! Well..the photo does cover ALOT of imperfections! I used a small spatula and also my finger...and retraced alot of the areas a few times.

It looks alot better in the photo than it does in person. haha.
