Does anyone use the butter flavored crisco to make your buttercream icing with? I was just wondering how it tastes. I usually make mine with plain crisco and NO butter but saw some butter flavored crisco last time I went shopping and thought I would ask you guys if any of you have used it.

I've never tried it in icing but I have used it in other things and don't like the taste of it.
If you want a butter flavor try using some butter with your shortening when you make icing. I use 1/2 cup butter to 1 1/2 cups shortening.

I use the butter flavored Crisco in my Chocolate BC. It gives it a nice smooth, creamy taste and texture!

I have used it many times, it is oh so yummy IMO. You do get a slightly yellow color but a tiny bit of violet will take care of that.

I always use the butter flavored Crisco 1/2 and 1/2 with real butter if I am not looking for a pure white icing. Very delicious, smooth and tints very well. Best of luck to you thumbs_up.gif

I use 1/2 butter flavored crisco and 1/2 butter. It adds SO MUCH to the icing. I started out using just regular crisco, and the icing was ok, but I was still preferring the store bought Duncan Hines/Betty Crocker type until I made that switch. And oh man...YUM-MEE!
