I am attempting my third FBCT. The last two I attempted, stuck to paper when I tried to remove and place on top of my cake. What am I doing wrong and does anyone have any helpful tips? I am so stressed out about this. I have two more FBCT for this week. Help Please!!!
Also, I noticed most FBCT are very smooth and neat, mine has the wormy appearance. I smooth out before freezing and also try to smooth when I press on cake. I love the way FBCT looks, but mine are not very attractive. Sorry no example to show you.

I've had the same problems. I found that when I did the FBCT on parchment it stuck and when i do it on waxed paper, I have no problems. I too have gotten the wormy look. I'm wondering if the BC was thinned just a bit if it might help?
I use my regular recipe of BC and waxed paper. I have done LOTS of these and haven't had one stick yet. My "trick" for not getting the wormy effect is to bury my tip in the icing when filling in outline-like you would for colorflow. Let the icing come up and over your tip and just fill in the gaps. I let it crust for a few minutes, then press the image down with just my fingers, then freeze for at least 90 minutes. Have your cake ready with smoothed icing, then remove the FBCT from freezer and flip onto your cake. Pull the waxed paper off SLOWLY. Just start at one corner or side and let it kind of fall off, like fondant falls off vinyl or silpat. Don't rush. It will only take a few seconds. Then, DON'T TOUCH IT. Let it just sit and thaw before you try to "fix" it in any way, like patting it down, fixing a broken outline, or whatever.
My regular recipe for BC is half butter, half shortening. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Now I use parchment ( i use the silicone treated kind by wilton) and I have never had one stick to it. I dont know if it matters that it is the silicone treated or not, but maybe it does since beachcakes had it stick to parchment. Nothing sticks to that stuff, so it is even a little hard to tape it down!! I have read a lot of posts where people had theirs stick to wax paper. So unfortunately I guess you might need to experiement to see what works best for you. I read where someone lightly coated their wax paper with crisco...another thing you could try. But my recommendation is for the wilton silicone treated. Good luck on your next one!
