Hi.
I bought the Whimsical bakehouse cookbook and it inspired me to try a few chocolate transfers. I have to say, I love the look, however I want to explain what happened with the one and maybe someone can tell me why it happened.

I did a transfer of Hello Kitty. I used the CK candy writers for 90% of it - black to outline, yellow for the nose and orchid on part of the dress. Then I used the white merkens melts to fill in her body and then instead of tinting the white melts for the rest of her dress, I thought it would be **better** to use the pink melts. Well, maybe I was wrong...the whole transfer looked great except for the pink. The pink looks acceptable...but a little "chalky" or muddled colored. It is not as vibrant as the CK writers or even the white melts. There also are "wormy" or air pocket marks in the pink. I can't understand why. I spooned the melts in because it was a large area and it was very smooth. It seems odd that when I used the actual colored melts, that that would be the problem. The white melts were perfect, I would have thought the pink would be too.

The only other thing that happened was that in one spot the black bled a little. Not sure why. The candy writers dry practically instantly. And in one other spot the black outline wasn't as thick and flat/smooth as the rest of the outline. Not so sure what happened there either. Overall, I'm happy with it but I just was curious as to what went wrong.

I have to say....I love using the candy writers for filling in. They dry sooo quick and you don't have to waste time tinting colors.

Please respond if you have any advice.
