Ok, so tonight I get to start decorating a wedding cake for this weekend.
All fondant, 4 tiers stacked, octagon shaped with royal icing bead border on all edges and corners. I've never tackled this shape before, so does anyone have any "pearls of wisdom"?
Well, I finished it, and it wasn't as much of a challenge as I thought. I think the octagon was actually easier to cover with fondant than a square, maybe because the corners aren't as "sharp". I thought I would hate this cake, but was actually quite pleased with the way it came out. This is my second wedding cake, so I can't wait to do more!
