FBCT or Chocolate Transfers, I havent tried either but would like to give this a go.

For a novice what would you recommend to try first? Any tips for someone trying out will be gratefully received

I personally love fbct's.

Just give them both a go and see which you like better yourself.

So you don't find one easier than the other?

I have a feeling they are going to open a whole new avenue for me icon_lol.gif

I've only done FBCT, but I've heard they're both very similar...I'm sure it depends on what you're going to use them for.

I heven't done either...but they are similar processes from what I gather. The difference is that the chocolate will stand upright on it's own...so it depends on what you are using them for.
