Need help! Client wants small wedding cake to pick up day before wedding, then she will be traveling 1 hour to the site . My question is, do I go ahead and assemble and use a center dowel through whole cake or should I box separately and let her place together and if I do that should I use separating columns or globes or something so I can complete the border on top tier? Cake is 10", 6" top tier for saving, bride will provide flowers for topper and fillers, will be ivory in color. Please, anyone that can help!!! icon_confused.gif

I would have it assembled with the dowel rod to hold it. Be sure to tell her how to transport it (level, air-conditioned, etc.) I would also make the cake board a little larger to prevent finger damage and a larger "cleat" or finger lift.

Also, remind her that once it's out of your hands, you have no responsibility for it's condition and get that in writing.

I agree with Sugarflowers, send it stacked, tell them what kind of space they will need to have for it in the vehicle.
Give them some no skid shelf liner to put the cake on and tell them that you are not responsible once it leaves your care.
Make sure you tell them how to drive too; no sudden braking, etc.
