I have some and they are great. You roll your gum paste very thin and press the tappet onto it firmly and then move it around on your cutting surface (scrubbing motion) to make sure it cuts all the way through. Then tap hard on the palm of your hand to remove. If it doesn't come out use a needle in one corner to lift it out. Be sure to grease the tappet before pressing into the gumpaste. I took a class on them and really enjoyed working with them. The possibilities are endless.
they are called tappits, because you use it to cut out gumpaste and then tap it against your board or table to get the gumpaste out. It is like a ruler with several cutters on it. It takes a little practice to use them, but once you get the hang of it, they are okay.
Think FMM is the manufacturer that uses that name. They do work well - I love their alphabets. Roll the gumpaste thin, and use a straight pin if needed to gently coax the shape out. I was rolling it a little too thick and calling them slammits instead of tappits (in addition to a few other spicy names
), but rolling thin sheets through the pasta roller made them work easily.
