I'm making a dummy cake as a keepsake what should I cover with fondant, gumpaste or 50/50? Can the round styrfoam disks be glued and covered with fondant? It's not as thick as what we use for cakes; it's the kind that has the little crater holes in them?

I would use fondant to cover those. Lightly mist the styrofoam with water before applying the fondant.

Thanks. Are you saying that I could use the disks; you know the kind people use as a base for decorations for keepsakes at baby showers and weddings

Yes. Just stack and glue them together before covering with fondant. I am assuming you are talking about the styrofoam for crafts/floral arrangements that easily crumble and have a shine to them?

Exactly, thanks. So, since they have the little craters in them I don't need ti use bc or piping gel first?
