A Little Tip For People That Do Not Already Know!

when you deliver your perfectly decorated cake to a location, and it still is a little bit cool, do not put any candles even NEAR it! tonight luckily it was my mothers wedding and not someone elses, but i was so happy with the cake, it was perfect, and there were six little tea light candles set up on the cake table, and my moms husbands son light them for pictures, and the gold swirls on my cake just started melting, making gold drip lines down the cake... i tried to fix it, but it was too late! i will post pictures soon..
another lesson learned!

What were the gold swirls made of to cause them to melt down like that?
Are you meaning the condensation from the heat of the candles on the table affecting your swirls because the cake was still cool?
Sorry if this sounds silly, but my brain just hasn't kicked into gear today yet...tcturtleshell can attest to that! LOL!
I always include photos (two views) after set-up. That way the people paying for the cake know that when I left all was as it should be.
I know, it's a pain in the butt to lug a lap top, Kodak Easy Share Printer and camera, but it is worth it!
that's a good idea Sherik, to take photos! the gold swirls were made from the gold/silver piping gel recipe on this site..and i took the cake out at 3 00 and didnt set it up until about 5 30, so i think it was pretty much room temperature, so im not sure what the deal was. im trying to upload pictures tonight!
That's interesting you brought that up. I never thought of that.
I just delivered a 4 tiered wedding cake and after I was done setting it up, they put a bunch of tea candles around it. The table was pretty large so they weren't very close, but now I am concerned. The cake was fondant with fondant and royal decorations. I did take a picture before I left but I hope nothing happened :-|
