I'm sitting here watching rich bride poor bride and the baker showed up with this beautiful cake (cost $800) he gets out of the van and the wedding planner and some other women is there it's a 3 tier cake and 500 guests, well the baker guy asks the girl to help him carry it in and she slipped on the floor and WHAM cake everywhere lol the couple luckily had cake insurance and the planner called the bakery and they had an exact one delivered within an hour but at least this time the delivery guy brought it in separately and then stacked it. Just curious though if they didnt have insurance who would be responsible for the cake? The guy who delivered the cake and asked the women to help (he was wearing a chef type jacket so I guessed he should have known what he was doing) or the the women who helped him carry it in?

I would think this would be the decorators problem. I have the bride sign off on the contract when I am done setting up and to me at that point is when the cake is officialy theirs. I did have one mother of the bride plug in a foutain after I had unplugged and had her sign off on the cake. A child was running around and tripped over the cord and the cake went flying. I was there taking my pics and so I stayed and tried to repair as much as I could but I didn't feel too bad since I had warned her about plugging it in early. It can bite you in the butt though because when people saw the crooked cake and asked who did it, it is YOUR name that they say.

Cake insurance? What??? Never heard of it. And how on earth did the bakery manage to produce a second cake exactly like the first so quickly? Where they the ones who made the first cake?

yes okie the wedding planner called the bakery right away and they said no problem and an exact replica was delivered within an hour mind you it was just a white three tier cake with buttercream and red roses. Still they were a very lucky couple that they had a good planner and not a complicated cake, but you should have seen his face when the girl slipped lol he just picked up his jaw and went out of the room. I was glad to see the delivery guy wised up and assembled the second cake on site.
