Getting Ready For 1St Carved Cake....advice?
Decorating By jeffer01 Updated 16 Aug 2007 , 7:23pm by jeffer01
I just got a call earlier for a carved boot cake that is needed by Friday morning! Crazy me said "SURE!" I have never made a carved cake and now I am thinking I've lost my mind!!! ![]()
I baked the cake this evening and wrapped well and popped into freezer...some reason I was thinking it is easier to carve that way. Is this right?
She wants a red boot that will feed 2 people, but wanting from a 9x13 pan and white cake with strawberry bc filling, bc icing. I have found some pics in the gallery for guidance, but seeking advice on actual carving and icing!
I welcome any input...I will be carving and icing tomorrow afternoon/evening, since I work a full-time day job, can't do until then.
Thanks for your help!
Will I survive my own stupidity of saying sure??????
is it going to be standing up 3 dimensionally?? Or a flat lay down boot??? If it's just laying down.....I would suggest drawing a boot on paper, cut it out and then lay the paper on the cake and use that as your guide when you're cutting......that's what I did with my guitar cake and it makes life sooooooooo much easier!! If it's stand up........I don't know what you're going to do lol j/k...I would just ask someone on here that's done one!
