How To Make Violets On Nail?
Decorating By projectqueen Updated 15 Oct 2006 , 7:32pm by sweetsuccess
My Wilton Class 2 was cancelled and I need to make violets for a cake. I have the kit but no book so I figured I'd just give it a try.
I have a Wilton book that says to make royal icing violets on a flower nail but I have never made royal flowers before and I'm not sure about the nail.
Do you put wax paper like when you do a rose? It didn't say anthing about wax paper. How does it come off the nail? Do you wait for it to dry first?
I have the tips, I think it's 59 and 101, whatever comes in the kit. Any easy way to do this?
Thanks.
have you got the course book? in the back are the pattern pages and there's one for violet. it has petals similar to the apple blossom, except that there are 3 large petals on the bottom and 2 small petals on the top. once they're done you put them on the small flower former.
as for wax paper, i use floral clay to stick my template to the flower nail and then another piece of floral clay to stick my wax paper to the template. then when you've made the flower, pop it on the flower former and wait for it to dry... don't remove it from the wax paper until it's dry.
if you need the patterns for the violet, let me know and i'll try to dig them up.
Cheers!
Jill
When making any flower on the rose nail you should use wax paper on the nail. So that you can do more than one flower at a time. Next there are patterns in the course 2 book. One that says violet. Place that on the nail cover with the wax paper. Take the violet 59 tip and place in a bag etc....Now you will do three long petals on the nail on the pattern and nail. Then finish it up with two small petals. VIOLA, there you have a violet. Remeber to pull the petals (three long petals) not the short petals. Also remember to place two yellow dots with tip 1 to finish the flower. HTH

h Prepare two decorating bags, one with tip 59s/59 (tip 101s for left handers) for petals, one with tip 1 for center
h Fill bags half full with medium consistency royal icing
Tips: 1, 59s/59 (101s)

Thanks. I'm sure it would help to have the instruction page from the Course 2 book and the template. I'd be grateful if someone could pm those to me.
I signed up for Course 2, paid, bought the kit and then they cancelled the class. Not enough people. They don't give you the book until the first night of class so I never got the book. Figured I have the kit so I might as well practice but it's not much use without the instructions ![]()
If course 2 is like course 1 they have instructions with photos in the book. That would be a great help. I don't even know how to hold the tip on the nail.
Oh, forgot to ask. Is there a template/instructions for a violet leaf as well?
Thanks again!
projectqueen, I wish my scanner was working, but if you go to the wilton website and go to decorating techniques there is a whole bunch of techinques there including the violet with the template and you could print it off the website. Sorry I don't know how to attach the link. Good luck![]()
