I got the train cake pan for a present last Christmas. The cars are so small and they seem like they would be hard to ice unless I did the old star tip. I am going to be making a train cake in September and wanted to know if anybody has used this pan.

I also got this pan for Christmas. I have made it once and yes I wouldn't try to ice the cakes. I just used candies and small amounts of icing (stars, etc.) to decorate them. It is cute and you can decorate the cakes individually.

Hi there,

I received this cake pan from my sister-in-law and am planning on using it for my son's 3rd B'day in about 10 days time. I did a test last week and it was okay to decorate. I am going to use smarties or m & m's for the wheels. I used icing tubes to draw over the lines and it looked quite good. I will let you know how the final attempt turns out. I used my own recipe to make it, so the cake didn't taste too good! Mind you, it isn't big enough to serve to everyone, so I think I will put in on another bigger cake...like a hill or something like that!

I used this same pan last x-mas and the icing is the last thing you want to do with this (except for little details). Its much more presentable if you go crazy with the little edible decorations and setup the train so its on tracks (e.g. licorice, etc...).
