A coworker has asked me to make a birthday cake for her daughter's 8th birthday. Her daughter is really into cows and she wants a sheet cake that is white with the black spots, a barn and maybe a few plastic cows on top, with red writing. (if the cake looks like an actual cow her daughter won't let them cut it).

I have seen some fondant covered ones in the galleries and was wondering how this was done. How is the black created. Do you use chocolate fondant for that part and regular fondant for the white part?

For the message she said if I come up with anything cute to go that way. Her idea, which is a good one, was "Have an utterly birthday" Any ideas would be great here also.

Last how much would you charge for this?

The birthday isn't until december so I have some good planning time.

You can cover your cake in white fondant and mix some black fondant up, cutting it up to simulate cow spots and smoothe them on to the cake.

As for the inscription "Have an UDDERly fantastis birthday" is really cute.

I don't know if you are leaning towards fondant or not...but I seen a camoflage cake in the galleries and she gave a description on how she did the camo work. Said she frosted and then pretty much blobbed (is that even a word) the different colors on and smoothed, it turned out awesome, I figure you could do that to. It was all buttercream. Just a idea

That's VERY bad but also VERY funny. icon_lol.gif Actually I showed her a cake from the gallery by aggiecakes, and she loves it and wants it the same as hers. So this for sure is my first paid cake order, plus she's paying me up front so she doesn't have to worry about it later. I'm so excited. party.gif
