got my second call for my second order...PTO of childrens school want me to make a cake for bus driver appreciation week next week! I have had no experience with carving a cake but the idea of making a bus seems really fun! What are your takes on this? Should I stay away from the stacked carved cake thing for now till I get better? Or should I try..and what would be the best way to get a form of a bus? Would it be maybe baking with loaf pans or what? TIA
I think loaf pans would be the way to go. Unless you baked a sheet cake and sliced it, used the slices to torte with (does that make sense?). That way you might be able to get away with baking once instead of a few times.
OR, if you want to keep it simple, you could do a round cake as a steering wheel. Or a regular sheet cake in yellow with bus windows and a bus number on it, sort of like a side view of a bus.
i would say to go ahead and carve the bus! it sounds like fun! here are some that are in the gallery. maybe you can pm one of the members who did one and ask how they did it.

Could you adapt these?

They didn't tell me...I assume not very many since the school is small and it will mainly be for the the 3 bus drivers and maybe a few of the other people at school...maybe 20 at the most I would think. Thanks 7yyrt gonna try that one I think! Thanks a million!
