I need help with choosing a mixer. I think i am going to get into cakes semi-professionally so i would like the best mixer for the job.

My options are:
KA artisan (most likely pink or pistachio)

KA KSM90

KENWOOD
KM006

KM002

OR
KM007

All of which are great machines, my mum has owned a kenwood for years, the KA's are very popular on here and so pretty, but i would love some more feedback on both machines. The kenwoods seem to be more powerful but the KA's seem to have better mechanics.

Please: DISCUSS!!

Am not familiar with the Artisan, but would only go with KA. I had mine (smaller one) for 20 years and still going strong and then switched to the bigger KA and have had that for at least 10 years and still going strong. I have a LARGE family and tons of friends and family that I use this more than once a day for and have never burned up a motor and never had a problem with it! When I got my bigger one, I put my smaller one away for whichever child expresses a real interest in baking. Good luck!

Ive never owned a Kenwood but from what I see, there are alot of features not related to cake mixing(ice crusher, food processor) I wouldnt buy one with all the frill unless you use the mixer as an all purpose, everyday mixer. I have 2 KA. the Classic for regular use and the Professional 600,which I use for cake stuff only. I love them both. Sorry Im rambling. That is what Id buy.The KA. Good luck on your decision.

I'm not a professional but I use my two mixers several times a week. I have a Bosch Universal (which would have to be pried out of my cold dead fingers before I'd give it up!) and I had a KA heavy duty 5 quart. I just sold the KA (to my sister!) and am waiting patiently (or not) for my new KA Pro 600 to arrive. I upgraded to the Pro 600 because it has more power and a bigger bowl.

Being that I am not a professional (just an avid baker) and I needed the bigger bowl you may want to consider it. I would suggest, if you have any retail stores around that carry the different lines go play with them. The KA's will all take the different attachments so that isn't an issue if you're wanting some other toys to go with it.

Just so you know, the thing that made me decide to upgrade was when I was doing IMBC and I kept having to smoosh it back down into the bowl. My bowl was too small and the frosting kept smearing all over the underside of the mixer (which is very fun to clean I might add. icon_razz.gif ) Think about what size bowl you need and have fun shopping.

Thanks for all the responses, The KA's are very popular! I have always wanted one and i am going to buy my machine from where i work so i have these things staring me in the face day in day out! Its torture i tells ya!
I have compared motor sizes and bowl sizes and i think the kenwoods come out on top, but the KA are just so pretty...
I think i need to think about it more.

I would love to hear from anyone who has used a kenwood though.
