...use Luster Dust On Chocolate?
Decorating By Mom2LiamandQuinn Updated 15 Aug 2007 , 11:36am by CandyLady
I want to make chocolate seashells with a little shimmer. I tried brushing the inside of the mold with dust, but it came out blotchy, and brushing it on after they were set didn't really work either.
Is there a trick I'm missing?
I don't know if this is what you are looking for but some people mix it with alcohol and paint it on. Try this link for details...

I've been told it won't work with some chocolates, like Wilton, as I was having the same problem. Even if it's in paint form, it would just be splotchy for me. Some places would stick, some wouldn't. I wasn't even using the Wilton brand of melts, but still the same issue.
I was told to use a chocolate called Apeel.. I had never heard of it before, so I did a google search and this was what I found.

Supposedly, this is one of the best chocolates, if you're going to use luster dust on it, whether mixed with alcohol or not.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

You need to use an oil based solution with the lustre dust to paint on chocolate. We have somethin called P Base here in South Africa - see my photos for the wedding cake with autum leaves and my recent mermaid where all the fish and shells are done this way.
