how do you quilt a cake ? what tool and how do you apply? should fondant be thicker than normal? icon_redface.gif

use an impression mat like this one:

also some people use a diamond shaped cutter to press into the fondant. still others draw them with a pizza cutter and a ruler.

thank-you , do you do this after you apply the fondant to the cake ? I have to decorate a baby shower cake tomorrow and i have never done this before.
