Is there such a thing as "Rolled Royal Icing"....I would love to be able to make accent pieces and be able to store them for a long period of time.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to create, you can use gumpaste or pastillage to create lasting peices.

I guess I just want the crunchy pieces you would normally get with royal icing....just to be able to roll it out like MMF but have it dry hard like royal icing. I hope I'm making sense...(((Smile)))

I think pastillage is supposed to be crunchy. Not sure though.

If you use gumpaste after a couple of hours it dry and it a day or so it will be come hard like the texture your looking for.

MMF does that to but you have to dry it for along time. And in my MMF I put 2 parts MMF and 1 part gumpaste, it works GREAT!

But, as I said before takes time to dry. I have some from the 1st Fondant class I took and they still look good ! They have that texture your looking for. ( Rock Hard)

Here is a recipe for pastillage. It rolls out and dries very quickly and very dry. If you ever ate those candy cigarettes when you were a kid, that's what it tastes like.

I can't guarantee that this will work for everyone, but when I made the stamens for the calla lilies in my bridal dress cake, I mixed some meringue powder (quite a bit) into my MMF. When they were completely dried I tasted one out of curiosity and almost broke a tooth. So if you have trouble finding gumpaste, you could try it. However, it did dry out VERY quickly (hard to work with) so I only made a little at a time.

If the were such a thing; the problem would be working with it as it crusts so quickly.
