Hi,

i made some MMF a while back (month or so) and stuck it in the freezer. now i have the chance to use it to cover a cake. should i? or should i make a new batch?

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the amount of work I have to do - i have two cakes to make and the thought of doing one more thing feels impossible.

MMF really shouldn't be refrigerated or frozen because it will cause it to dry out faster (and it is shelf-stable at room temperature, being made entirely of sugar). Take it out of the freezer, leave it in the wrapper, and let it come to room temperature. If it is hard and crumbly at room temperature, then it's officially dead and you should start over with fresh.
