I tried using alcohol to thin it down like I have seen mentioned here many times.. It did not work for me at all.

The color actually got more lumpy and looked liked it had 'curdled"

I used Kopykake gel colors red and green... the green was not as bad but the red just turned nasty..

Any ideas as to why this occured? anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for your help

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I hope someone does. I have this same problem. I have tried vodka everclear lemon extract and it all gets clumpy. I have found if I microwave it for like 10 sec it helps smooth it out some.

Sorry, can't say that I've had the problem. I just painted a lot with Americolor this weekend and it went fine thinning with vodka. Hopefully someone will have the answer for you!

Not sure why it would lump up unless there was either not enough alcohol or it needed to be mixed around.

I have one of those candy melts plates that looks like an egg platter. I put in about 3-5 drops of vodka and then take a toothpick and add in the paste color. I swirl it all together with a paint brush. Mine has never been lumpy.

i wish you luck!
